Former U.S. Rep. Allen West has delivered the keynote address at the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC.
He outlined his new PAC, "The Allen West Guardian Fund", in which he wants to raise $5 million over the next two years to build a "grassroots army to help elect 12 new hard-charging constitutional conservatives who either have a military background or are minorities, committed to taking a stand against big government and President Obama for the next four years."
After his speech on Thursday, West, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, sent out this email to supporters:
Fellow Patriot,
Earlier this week, I sent you this email announcing the Allen West Guardian Fund. If you haven't yet had a chance to read it, I urge you to do so now.
The sole mission of the Guardian Fund is to build an army of conservatives to expose Barack Obama's dangerous, radical agenda by electing 12 hard-charging, constitutional conservatives to the U.S. Congress in 2014 who either have military backgrounds or are minorities. This morning at CPAC, I unveiled our battle plan:
We'll recruit candidates throughout the country who will stay true to our shared values. And we won't shy away from getting conservatives on the ballot in traditionally deep blue districts because our commonsense values appeal to voters everywhere.
We'll prepare our recruits for battle with the left by focusing on the arguments they typically use against us — race, wealth, and family values — and how to run an effective and successful campaign.
And finally, we'll make independent expenditures on behalf of our recruits in the areas they need, be it television or radio advertisements, voter-registration assistance, get-out-the-vote funding, or direct financial assistance.
But to be successful, we must raise $5 million in the next 24 months.
As a soldier, I'm no stranger to combat. But when I was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq, I knew I had a platoon full of men who had my back, no matter what. As we embark on this mission to defeat Obama's liberal progressive agenda, I need to know that you'll stand with me.
We both love America too much to sit back and watch Barack Obama destroy her. I hope you'll answer this call to duty to defend this nation by standing with me today.
